This is probably the best thing I have done in a long while. I used to make this type of card quite often but haven’t made any for a long while.

I started with the picture I wanted to recreate and made a tracing. It was then a case of retracing the elements onto different coloured cards, working them with a burnisher to give them more shape and form, then building up the image in layers using foam pads.

The hands were a bit of a pain, but worth the effort in the end. The whole thing took about 5 hours in all to make.

70th Birthday card

70th Birthday card

I thought I’d use this as a practice first blog, just so I can get my head around the technical wizardry that lets my flickr account talk to my blog. It’s all a bit clever for me.

Anyhow. This is the card I made for my Dad’s 70th birthday at the end of March. I am really pleased with it especially as the topiary tree was all my own work and design and drawn/painted using watercolour pencils. The other bits and pieces are all from my stash of stuff, it’s handy to have the odd one or two crafty bits in a cupboard isn’t it?

I also stitched him a picture of HMS Victory. This was a Heritage Stitchcraft kit. It worked up a lot quicker than I was expecting it too and I really enjoyed stitching it. Dad was well chuffed and plans to hang the picture in his newly decorated bedroom. Go to my flickr photos to see some pics of it.

I plan to gradually upload more photos of bits I have made so watch this space.

Welcome.

Welcome to my blog. This is where I shall show off some of my creations and perhaps the occasional random rambling.

Enjoy!
